The Texas Find yielded a host of complete sets from 1948 through 2007 virtually each of them completed during its year of issue. The one exception was the 1952 Topps set; the original owner continued to upgrade and upgrade throughout his life improving the quality of the cards in his "base" set acquiring autographed examples and adding more and more cards to his collection. We offered a complete set in our last auction but after culling through his duplicates we were also able to piece together a complete low number run. The cards run the gamut condition-wise with several as high as EX (the Willie Mays in fact is a PSA EX 5) and others quite poor (card #273 of Irv Palica has had its borders completely trimmed off). Clearly each of the cards in this set were those that were removed from the "base" set when suitable upgrades were found so this collection includes all manner of condition flaws from creases and writing (32 of the cards exhibit various forms of writing on the reverse typically to reflect team changes or add statistics to the reverse) to normal corner and edge wear. Still the completion of a 1952 Topps low-number run is no easy task in any grade. A condition breakdown of this collection might be 8% VG/EX with a few better; 27% VG; 29% GOOD; 24% FAIR and 11% POOR with the majority of the key cards grading in the F-G range. (Duke Snider Robin Roberts and Bob Feller would grade closer to VG). Of course the set's absolute key card Willie Mays grades PSA EX 5 the only PSA-graded card in the collection. 310 cards total.
