Last year we had the incredible good fortune of meeting Dennis Clotworthy a former Detroit Tigers batboy from the 1970s who consigned his entire collection to Love of the Game. The great majority of items were either pieces that Clotworthy obtained during his time as a team employee or items he acquired afterword that were related to his time with the team. A small number however were items that he'd simply acquired over the years things unrelated to his time as Tigers batboy or Detroit front office employee. Such is the case with this the original 1935 R89 Mickey Mouse Bubblle Gum Volume 1 set (minus one card) witih each card affixed in its original album. The album itself is clearly damaged the upper-right corner chipped away over the years. The cards inside however remained reasonably well-protected over the years. While none would likely appear to be in greater than VG/EX condition (we cannot of course vouch for the card reverses) the mixture of Type I and Type II cards are missing just one for completion; card # which has clearly simply fallen out of the book at some point over the years and was never recovered. An interesting historical document a card set issued at the beginning of what would eventually grow to become the Disney empire.
