Issued between 1909 and 1911 by the American Caramel Company of Philadelphia the cards we categorize as E90 were issued as three separate sets that we now call E90-1 E90-2 and E90-3. All remain popular with collectors today and few stars of the era are more popular than The Christian Gentleman Christy Mathewson (here misspelled as "Matthewson"). This is a collector-grade example of Mathewson"s E90-1 card a card that routinely eclipses $1 000 in the middle grades at auction. Part of the "Full Count Find " this example was clearly well-loved by its original owner as it is decidedly in POOR condition and thus decidedly much more affordable than those higher-priced midgrade examples.
