A sharp fresh to the hobby set of 1973 Topps baseball cards the last set Topps issued in series. Known as one of Topps" most plain designs with some of the most awkward photography due to their inclusion of action shots in the standard set (in 1972 they issued special "In Action" cards that were a hit) the designs and photos of the 1973 Topps set has captured the fancy of many a collector. The key card in this set of course is the rookie card of Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt one of the most important cards of the modern era. This set was likely assembled during its time of issue and has remained with a single collecting family since the set"s completion. Stored back-to-back in plastic binder sheets the cards are primarily clean with the majority of its condition issues relating to centering or corner wear. The cards have been handled but not excessively and while it is certainly not to be considered a "high grade" set it is a very attractive strong set. A rough condition breakdown is 3% NMT or better; 13% EX/MT; 28% EX; 40% VG/EX; 16% VG; and a handful lesser. A condition breakdown of the set"s keys is as follows:#50 Clemente EX/MT (miscut back); #90 B. Robinson VG/EX; #100 Aaron VG/EX; #130 Rose EX/MT; #142 Munson VG/EX; #160 Palmer EX; #170 Killebrew EX; $175 F. Robinson VG/EX; #190 Gibson VG; #220 Ryan VG; #235 Hunter VG; #245 Yastzremski VG/EX; #255 Jackson VG/EX; #280 Kaline VG/EX; #300 Carlton VG/EX; #305 Mays VG/EX; #320 Brock EX; #330 Carew VG/EX; #350 Seaver VG; #380 Bench VG; #410 McCovey VG/EX; #471 Cobb EX; #472 Gehrig EX; #474 Ruth VG/EX; #475 Cobb NM; #476 Johnson EX/MT; #615 Schmidt (RC) EX.One of a string of classic 1970s Topps baseball issues a clean attractive group of cards with strong visual appeal for a midgrade offering. 660 cards total.
