I have one to sell!
Along with the T206 and 1933 Goudey sets the 1952 Topps set is one of the most desirable valuable and timeless sets in the hobby. Ushering in the golden era of collecting the set was the largest of its time both in number and in card size. The issue was the first to include color team logos and the first to include stats from the previous season as well as the player's career. Additionally the set was issued in series with the second series (#311-407) considered by many to be among the toughest "high numbers" of all the Topps issues. The set included popular and highly sought-after early cards from Willie Mays Eddie Mathews and of course Mickey Mantle. Even today it is considered one of the most beautiful baseball card sets ever issued. Presented is a near-complete 1952 Topps set. Another component of the San Antonio collection that was consigned to LOTG this set appears to have been completed over time from a variety of sources judging from the range of condition and appearance of the cards. The majority of the cards are lower-grade examples with many exhibiting tape stains on either the front or reverse of the cards likely from having been mounted in a scrapbook at some point. The majority of the cards featuring tape stains actually present very well as the tape stains are limited to the card edges or reverse. A few exhibit writing and many exhibit creasing and wear consistent with the grades. The Mickey Mantle which was graded VG+ 3.5 by PSA has been broken out of this set and is being offered as a separate lot within this auction. A condition breakdown of the cards is as follows: 2% EX or better; 8% VG/EX; 18% VG; 35% G; 37% lesser. A breakdown of the key cards is as follows: #1 Pafko (F); #11 Rizzuto (VG); #26 Irvin (G); #33 Spahn (P); #37 Snider (F); #59 Roberts (F); #65 Slaughter (F); #88 Feller (P); #91 Schoendienst (P); #129 Mize (G); #191 Berra (P); #216 Ashburn (F); #246 Kell (G); #261 Mays (PSA 4 MC); #268 Lemon (P); #277 Wynn (VG); #312 Robinson (PSA VG 3); #313 Thompson (VG); #314 Campanella (P); #315 Durocher (G); #333 Reese (P); #384 Crosetti (F); #392 Wilhelm (PSA VG/EX 4); #394 Herman (F); #396 Williams (G); #400 Dickey (PSA GOOD 2); #407 Mathews (PSA A). PSA deemed the Mathews "Authentic" due we assume to a light trim though the card presents very well and the trim is difficult to discern. It should be noted that the condition of the high number cards is slightly stronger than the condition of the lower numbers. Additionall
