Regarded as the first sports agent Christy Walsh was a tireless promoter who represented Babe Ruth created a ghostwriting syndicate to author player “autobiographies ” created the “Bustin’ Babe and Larrupin’ Lou” barnstorming teams and produced an annual wall calendar featuring a variety of sports heroes within the pages. This lot contains a legal release form authorizing Walsh to use the player’s name and likeness for the calendar. Printed by Brown & Bigelow (who still produce wall calendars today) the calendars can still be found in the hobby today. This collection the majority of which has been authenticated by James Spence Authentication feature some of the greatest names the game has known. The balance of the collection of Christy Walsh legal release postcards numbering 11 in total each mailed and used in the early 1950s. Each of the cards displays very well with a bold clear signature. Collectively an outstanding document of Christy Walsh's deep relationships throughout the game. Signatures include Nick Altrock (mailed 1953) Donie Bush (mailed 1953) Jackie Jensen (mailed 1954) Rudy Pilney (mailed 1952) James Porter (mailed 1953) Johnny Rawlings (mailed 1953) Allie Reynolds (mailed 1952) Al Schact (postally used no mail date) Billy Sullivan (mailed 1950) Frank Thomas (mailed 1953) and Gus Zernial (mailed 1953). A collection of stars that does not solely include baseball each providing authorization to Christy Walsh. 11 signatures total.
