The 1934 Butterfinger premiums were oversized photographs printed on unbelievably thin almost newsprint stock and distributed with Butterfinger candy bars and other products. Due to the extreme lightweight paper these are very susceptible to damage of all inds - it is common to find R310s torn wrinkled or with pieces missing and many times due to their large size (7 3/4" x 9 3/4") they are found with folds holes pinholes and tape. Some of these were printed on heavy cardboard and carry red advertising for Butterfinger. While the cardboard examples are more durable the paper ones are extremely condition-sensitive and extraordinarily difficult to find intact. Presented here is a grouping of 13 attractive examples including multiple Hall of Famers and keys to the set. The majority of these display very well even those in lower technical grades as they have been stored very carefully over the years. The collection includes the following: Ripper Collins (VG very slight corner clip at lower-right); Paul Derringer (P); Leo Durocher (HOF - P); Jimmy Foxx (G - corner creases minor paper loss at top two corners); Lou Gehrig (HOF - P); Charles Gehringer (HOF G - moderate back damage); Lefty Gomez (HOF - G - wrinkling and folding typical of the issue); Bucky Harris (HOF - VG); Heinie Manush (HOF EX-MT); Pepper Martin (F); Mel Ott (HOF - VG-EX); Red Ruffing (HOF - F); Al Simmons (HOF - F); Dazzy Vance (HOF - F-G). 13 cards total.
