The key card in the boxing portion of the Turkey Red cabinet set known as T9s this Jack Johnson card has been graded VG+ 45 by SGC. With outstanding image quality the card appears nicer than the grade however the grade is accurate; the card exhibits surface wear throughout and the reverse has several light scuffs and wrinkles.The amazing social statement made by T9 cabinets was pointed out to us by our consignor. The set"s many caucasian boxers are depicted in regal settings inside the boxing ring often with fans cheering on. African-American fighters however are almost always depicted outdoors behind a ramshackle house surrounded by clutter (and in one case moonshine bottles). Despite being one of the greatest champions ever the first African American heavyweight champion is depicted in the same way training outdoors squared off against an unseen opponent as if in a streetfight behind a bar.
