The Billiken Cigarettes issue of 1923-24 were from a Cuban-produced set that featured 2" x 2 5/8" cards depicting 60 players from the Cuban Professional League. Each black and white glossy photo contains an ad on the reverse either for Billiken or La Moda Cigarettes. One of the more popular Cuban League sets this issue includes many stars from the American Negro Leagues including Oscar Charleston (perhaps the key card in the set) Pop Lloyd Jose Mendez Andy Cooper and of course Cristobal Torriente. This extremely difficult card has been graded FR 1.5 by PSA mostly due to surface wear and staining. Interestingly enough while the image quality remains strong the card is devoid of the small circular insect holes so common to Cuban issues and particular to this set. The majority of the wear is restricted to the top portion of the card one of the more important cards from this extremely scarce and desirable issue.
