Difficult and highly desirable Cuban issue depicting Negro League pitcher Nip Winters who starred with a number of American teams between 1919 and 1933. Winters was the top pitcher for the first place 1924 Hilldale club winning 20 of the team's 48 wins against just five losses. As a batter he hit a respectable .287 driving in 12 that season. The card has been graded POOR 10 by SGC despite the amazing image contrast and reasonably light wear - it is the omnipresent insect hole in the upper left that unfortunately reduces the technical grade. Unfortunately such holes are par for the course with Cuban cards and collectors often overlook them in favor of a quality image.
