Like many cigarette manufacturers of the time the S.F. Hess Company of Rochester New York also produced sets of baseball cards and issued them in their cigarette packs. S.F. Hess began issuing the N321 baseball cards in the late summer of 1888 and throughout the fall of the same year with their Creole Cigarettes. The set features 40 California League players printed in brilliant color and was regionally issued in California.
