Of the four different Babe Ruth cards issued as part of the 1933 Goudey set it is the #53 "Yellow Ruth" that is considered the most desirable. The pose is universally recognized depicting Ruth at the end of his famous lefthanded swing and although this identical pose is used on three of the four Goudey cards (the "Red Ruth" and "Yellow Ruth" are merely enlargements of the full body pose featured on card #144) it is the yellow one that attracts the most interest. Despite the SGC assessment of this example at the FAIR level the card's aesthetic appeal is excellent - a series of wrinkles and creases that traverse the card from east to west do not break the surface of the card so the color remains vivid and the card image clear. Edge and corner wear are relatively even throughout and the reverse is relatively clean. One single diagonal crease at the bottom-right corner is perhaps the most pronounced flaw on the card but even that is relatively minor. A beautiful affordable Goudey Ruth.
