The Civil War and notably the Confederate States have spent considerable time in the news lately as Americans debate the difference between heritage and hatred. Many feel that representations of the South belong in museums or private collections a thought very much at the forefront of our own thinking as we sat to write the description of this lot. Three separate engravings each prominently featuring Confederate general Robert E. Lee eaach beautifully colored and ready for display. Two of the engravings depict busts of Lee alone the third depicts a bust of Lee surrounded by eleven Confederate generals. Ultimately these three engravings are of historical significance; Civil War collectors typically revere that historical significance while keeping the heritage component in the museum or library where it belongs.
