Presented here is an "un-rubbed" example of the #2 card from the 1951 Topps Magic set - that of quarterback Bill Wade. Wade who led the 1963 Chicago Bears to the NFL championship was a two-time All-Pro with the Bears and also had a six-year career with the Los Angeles Rams. He retired at the end of the 1966 season. The 1951 Topps Magic set was issued right at the dawn of collecting"s "Golden Age " just before the classic and transformative 1952 Topps baseball set was issued. The cards were named "magic" due to scratch-offs on the card back that revealed the answer to a trivia question asked on the card. Rubbed-off examples of the cards are much more common than un-rubbed ones to the point where PSA classifies them separately in their population reports grading "un-rubbed" examples differently than rubbed ones. Obviously the "un-rubbed" examples carry a significant premium. This is one of just ten "un-rubbed" Wade cards noted in the PSA population report. SGC does not differentiate between the two so for the purposes of illustrating population data in this listing we will only use PSA"s data.Population DataPSA Population: 10 total graded 5 at this level 3 higher
