Redeemable four coupons given with copies of the Detroit Free Press in the summer of 1935 this unnumbered oversized (9 x 11") set contained 18 subjects each colorized portraits of Tigers players set inside a red green or blue frame. Each of these beautiful lightweight paper images are printed on semi-glossy magazine-like paper and are often susceptible to the type of wear common to large-format cards: pinholes tape stains paper pulls and back damage. This is a particularly strong grouping each with age-related wear but all with a particularly strong presentation. Included in the grouping are the following: Henry Greenberg (HOF - presents strongly but technically P due to water damage along the right border) Vic Sorrell (G due to a small paper chip at the bottom-right corner wrinkling and light corner wear) Schoolboy Rowe (again F-P due to water damage and creasing/chipping throughout) Billy Rogell (VG spot of water staining on the upper right border) Chief Hogsett (VG/EX) Ray Hayworth (VG spot of water staining in the same area as the other cards) Joe Sullivan (VG spot of water staining) Pete Fox (G Water staining and edge chip on the left border) Alvin Crowder (VG/EX) Herman Clifton (G/VG due to general light wear). An unusual and not often found issue more than half of a complete set a must for vintage Tigers fans.
