Outfielder John Coleman is represented in the N172 issue with five different poses among them this one catalogued as card #83-2. Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC the card does exhibit some fading to the image though the card exhibits minimal wear in other areas and is accurately graded. Coleman broke into the majors as a pitcher but his 12-48 pitching record in his first season suggested that perhaps another position might be wise. After his rookie season of 1883 and a 5-17 record in 1884 someone must have thought better of sending him to the mound with any regularity; he pitched in just 18 games through 1890 moving to the outfield as a (mostly) full-time player.
