The E95 Philadelphia Caramel issue of 1909 is one of the most popular and desirable of all the caramel issues. Despite the plentiful nature of the cards the player selection and small size of the set increase its desirability as do the attractiveness of the poses and colorful designs. This example one of the set's keys depicts Giants superstar Christy Mathewson (misspelled with two "t"s). Graded VG 40 by SGC the card does exhibit some discolorations that are the likely result of caramel stains far more noticeable on the reverse. Despite this and the corner and edge wear consistent with the grade the card is a very desirable card of one of the era's most popular players.
