The Henry Johnson Confectioners issue long catalogued as a W575-1 issue actually follows the checklist of the E121-80 set. We know this only because we are Henry Johnson collectors and have amassed a significant number of the cards over the years. While this example is not the property of Love of the Game it is an extremely significant example for type collectors interested in the issue. The card depicting popular catcher Wally Schang is graded POOR 10 but displays significantly better. Henry Johnson Confectioners cards are generally found in VG-EX or lesser condition as they have been handled extensively and it is thought that they were packaged with candy. What is interesting about this particular example - the only like it that we have seen despite handling dozens of Henry Johnson-stamped cards - is that this is the first we have seen that is double-stamped. The Henry Johnson Confectioners stamp is undeniably authentic utilizing the proper typeface and applied in the haphazard manner consistent with others in the issue. Opposite the Henry Johnson stamp however is the green stamp of another wholesale confectioner the first name beginning with "Howard" and the last name unfortunately spilled off the card. This is a stamp we have not seen. While other rare regional stamps have been discovered over the years (Service Candy comes to mind) it is always interesting to see a new stamp - and particularly interesting to see a card stamped twice.
