Utilityman Mike Dorgan boasted a solid career nine years long by 1887 when as a member of the New York Giants he suffered a knee injury. Dorgan would attempt to return from the injury in 1890 with the Syracuse Stars of the American Association but he was not an effective player shutting it down after playing in just 33 games that season. In 1909 Dorgan would have surgery on the knee ultimately contracting blood poisoning while in the hospital which unfortunately killed him. Dorgan is the subject of 17 different known pose variations in the N172 issue including two desirable horizontal poses. This example one of just two depicting him with a bat is catalogued as #132-16 and has been graded FAIR 20 by SGC due to moderate wear and paper loss on the reverse consistent with scrapbook removal.
