Delicate and beautiful the PM1 "Ornate Frame" pins are more jewelry than sportscard featuring a small (the pins measure about 1" x 1 1/8") photo of a player with his name underneath surrounded by an "ornate" metal frame. Incredibly scarce the manufacturer of the pins along with their original method of distribution remain unknown. A recent discovery of nine mint-condition examples show that the pins were initially affixed to 2x2" blank cards with the frame a lighter gold color. Most frames oxidized over the years with toning inevitable with the images result in condition issues that are not only accepted with this issue but taken for granted. This Johnny Evers is in outstanding condition its frame still shiny and bright the image slightly damaged from having been folded at some point. The original stock card to which the pin is attached is worn and creased right along the same plane as the pin itself an indicator that the pin has never been removed from its card. Simply outstanding.
