Collection of six collector-grade World Series ticket stubs including several significant games each with condition flaws consistent with being used for their intended purpose. Obviously tickets often wind up in the hip pockets of game attendees resulting in creasing and similar flaws; such is the case with this group of tickets. The collection includes the following: 1) 1976 World Series Game 3: The first World Series game at the renovated Yankee Stadium and the first Yankee Stadium Series game since 1964 pitted the upstart Yankees against the Big Red Machine. With the Reds en route to a 4-game steamrolling of the Yankees game 3 resulted in a 7-2 Cincy win against the Yankees and Ed Figureoa marked by two home runs from Johnny Bench. Yankee catcher Thurman Munson would collect four hits in this game. The ticket displays well but is marred by a single crease across the center. 2) 1978 World Series Game 3 - "The Nettles Game:" After the team's dramatic comeback tiebreaker victory against the Red Sox and pennant-winning series against the Kansas City Royals the Yankees came out flat against the Dodgers losing the first two games in Los Angeles. Sending Cy Young winning ace Ron Guidry to the mount for Game 3 the Yankees were initially confident. Guidry however had less than his best stuff and the Dodgers began mounting an attack in the third inning. Gold Glove third baseman Graig Nettles had other ideas however putting on a defensive show diving to his left and right blocking and catching line drives and singlehandedly saving the game with his defense. The Yankees would win the game 5-1 and then take the next three games straight for their first World Series win in more than a decade. The ticket is in FAIR condition displaying strongly but with a series of creases across the center. 3) 1979 World Series Game 6: Game six would tie the Series for Pittsburgh forcing a decisive Game 7 against the Baltimore Orioles. Facing Hall of Famer Jim Palmer John Candeleria would get the win shutting down the Orioles for a 4-0 win with Kent Tekulve recording his second of three World Series saves. The ticket is in FAIR condition with some creases and folds but as with the others in this group presents very well. 4) 1982 World Series Game 2: Game two between the Brewers and Cardinals was a 5-4 Cardinals win behind the relief pitching of future Hall of Famer Bruce Sutter.
