Mailed to the Schwabacher Co of Walla Walla Washington in the fall of 1897 this mailing envelope from Lang & Co of Portland Oregon documents the El Principe De Gales Ciagar brand a product offered by the wholesale grocer specializing in "cigars and tobacco wooden and willowware" (from business information we gleaned from our research on this envelope). The EPDG brand of course is best known among hobbyists as a brand featured in the T206 issue making this an interesting companion piece. The envelope specifically the EPDG advertisement on the reverse appear in outstanding condition with a few very light folds cut open on the right side to remove the original mailed contents but otherwise sealed and intact. The envelope exhibits some light toning and a small stain on the front a Portland postmark dating the piece to a mailing date of October 21 of 1897 additionally stamped as being received in Walla Walla the following day. An outstanding hobby-related historical document.
