October 1 1939 the UCLA Bruins paired up against the Montana Grizzlies in front of 27 000 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The starting right halfback for the Bruins was none other than Jackie Robinson; the left halfback was Kenny Washington. Washington was the star that day carrying the ball 11 times for 164 yards including a 68-yard run in the first quarter. Coming off two consecutive strong games Robinson did not carry the ball this day UCLA winning the game 20-6. This beautifully-preserved program easily grades in EX-MT condition its pages barely turned. The smallest of surface abrasions is visible on the red spot on the cover perhaps a long-ago pencil erasure. Slightly toned the artwork on this piece is tremendous a fantastic display-worthy piece with vivid color and precious little wear.
