One of the most rare and coveted of all the 19th Century non-sports tobacco albums the A70 Buchner "Defenders and Offenders" book includes full-color illustrations of 10 police chiefs ("Defenders") and 200 criminals ("Offenders") with biographical information on each. Measuring approximately 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" this hardcover book has been well-handled the front cover exhibiting the telltale staining and creasing of repeated use along with some abrasions that have removed paper from the spine. More egregious is the spine itself which can be seen from the back cover scan - the back cover is tearing away from the spine. The interior pages however are present and intact and display very well. A fine example of a very rare book.
