Depicted in card 159-1 (as well as his three other N172 poses) as a National League umpire Wallace Fessenden had a very brief baseball career umpiring just 53 games in 1889 and 1890 and managing 11 games with the Syracuse Stars in the American Association in 1890. That was it for Fessenden and baseball. Still this card graded GOOD 30 by SGC due largely to a chip in the photographic image at the upper-left border boasts strong contrast and image quality one of the more unique and interesting cards in the N172 issue.
