The 1948 season would see Hall of Fame pitcher Hal Newhouser go 21-12 with a 3.01 ERA for the 5th place Detroit Tigers. Newhouser's fourth 20-game season he would throw 272.1 innings giving up just 249 hits and walking 99. The day before this postcard was mailed however Newhouser took his 6th loss of the season getting shellacked by the Cleveland Indians giving up 5 runs on 7 hits in just 2 2/3 innings. Regardless his arm felt good enough to sign this postcard!
