Issued by an anonymous manufacturer the 25-card set that we today call the "E102 Set of 25" issue featured some of the more popular players of the era including hall of famers Chief Bender Ty Cobb Eddie Collins Sam Crawford Johnny Evers Nap Lajoie Christy Mathewson Joe Tinker and Honus Wagner. Among the more difficult caramel issues in terms of scarcity the cards are in high demand today. Presented is the card unequivocally considered the key to the tough E102 issue: that of Ty Cobb. The card simply does not make itself available for public sale often; our research has only found five examples sold in the past year: two PSA 5 examples sold for $9 480 and $10 800 two SGC 10 examples sold for $1 599 and $1 185 and a horribly mangled PSA AUTHENTIC example sold for $444. This is a crisp bold VG/EX 50 example as graded by SGC its L-R centering clearly the primary flaw keeping the card from a higher holder. Still its scarcity coupled with its demand will result in quite a bit of competition for this card one of the earliest and most highly sought-after cards of one of the greatest players that ever lived.
