A wonderful large (12 x 15") scrapbook filled with 19th Century baseball-related lithography this multi-page scrapbook features baseball-related imagery on the front cover and three large lithographs inside. The owner of this scrapbook utilized the interior pages to mount a variety of die-cut trade cards and other images as was a popular activity at the time. The outside cover of the piece is in fair condition with some of its cloth cover having worn away from the heavy cardboard backing in various spots around the edges. The interior pages are well-worn and toned and it appears that several pages have been torn from the book at one time or another (the first page in the book featuring a baseball lithograph depicting "A Wild Pitch" has also been torn from the book but is still included herein. There is one baseball-related die cut pasted into the book an 1880s unnamed player in the act of throwing a ball with the word "Wilkinson" on his uniform. The remaining die cuts are largely advertising trade cards flowers greeting cards and other non sports-related subjects. Our research indicates that complete copies of this scrapbook contain as many as twenty leaves and six baseball lithographs this contains ten leaves and four lithographs.Still this is a beautiful representation of late 19th Century lithography and baseball artwork and makes for an outstanding display.
