From an almost impossible-to-find regional issue of Orioles players, this red-bordered oddball shows accomplished pitcher Bobo Newsom in a voluminous (and painted on) Orioles jersey, advertising his regular appearances on the Knothole Gang show for local fans.
Esskay cards came two-per-box in 1954, printed on a panel of packaged hot dogs, so can be found as singles or doubles. The high value and low grade nature of this distribution, where every card was cut from a box by hand, places scarcity over condition when hunting for these cards. The PSA PR 1 is apparent from Bobo's wavy borders and edge chipping, but its main image looks great and a cut above (pun intended) many others of this grade. The population report shows just three examples and this is its only with a technical grade!
