Rare Dogs Head slide and shell cigarette pack. Clean and sturdy, with some wear and tiny tears at the edges and folds, focused near the bottom of the pack. Graphics and presentation are outstanding, with an 1883 tax stamp still visible on the reverse.
Surviving packs are quite rare, as Dogs Head was a lesser cigarette brand in its day. Circa 1888 and 1889, Gypsy Queen and Old Judge cigarette packs each contained coupons redeemable for N173 cabinets. Cabinets with Dogs Head Cigarettes advertised on their mount prove extremely rare and prized among advanced collectors today. It's possible, if lacking clear evidence, that those coupons could be found in packs of Dogs Head Cigarettes, as the brand was advertised on mounts and can be thus associated with the N173 issue.
