A fantastic look at the Hall of Fame trio prior to Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker's final season in the major leagues and the last in which Eddie Collins would make any significant contribution on the field. Connie Mack's 1928 Philadelphia Athletics were stacked with seven Hall of Famers in Ty Cobb, Mickey Cochrane, Eddie Collins, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Al Simmons, and Tris Speaker, finishing 98-55, second only to the 101-win New York Yankees. Some visible handling wear is present within the darker areas of this photo, which appears to be ever so slightly out of focus, with a small chip at the top-left corner. Verso includes full paper caption dated to 03/19/28, rightfully declaring these superstar veterans "Three of the greatest baseball players ever to grace the diamond..."
