Original Type I photo of Babe Ruth greeting new Yankees manager, Joe McCarthy at their spring training camp in 1931. Shot in St. Petersburg, FL, McCarthy had just joined the club after managing the Chicago Cubs from 1926-30. He'd lead the New York Yankees until 1946, capturing an incredible seven World Series championships during his time in the Bronx, his Yankees teams winning 100 or more games six times. Ruth would lead the league in home runs for the sixth-straight season in 1931, batting .373 while also leading in several other offensive categories, including but not limited to OBP (.435), and SLG (.737). Approx. 7.5" x 10" photo. is a terrific look at both men with some wear visible at the extreme corners. Verso exhibits mild toning with credit stamping from Wide World at the center. An original paper caption, dated to 03/03/31, remains affixed. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
