An exceptional example of one of the earliest and most significant cards of legendary Hall of Famer Hank Aaron. Issued exclusively in Milwaukee-area cookie packages, the 1954 Johnston Cookies set is a regional issue consisting of 35 cards, each measuring 2" x 3 7/8". The cards are numbered to match the player's uniform, with Aaron's card reflecting the number 5 he wore as a rookie, prior to his switch to number 44.
The card is a true rookie card, far more scarce than his mainstream 1954 Topps rookie, with a PSA-graded population of just 377, in comparison with more than 7,300 of the Topps version. The card is especially desirable in higher grades, with just 35 examples graded NM-MT 8 by PSA and only 14 higher.
This is a particularly clean and sharp specimen, centered well with sharp corners and a clean surface. The image of Aaron is strong, with vivid coloration and sharp registration. A tremendous, high-grade card of one of the most important figures in the game's history.
