Highly sought for many reasons, as this multiplayer card shows both a dynamic horizontal pose of on-field action and a Hall of Fame pitching ace for several clubs, one of the 19th century's best. "Sir Timothy" Keefe amassed well over 300 wins and led his league in key pitching categories several times over a 14-year career, earning Cooperstown induction in 1964.

Keefe proved one of the most popular figures in the N172 set, thanks to his established stardom by the late 1880s. This #251-8 card shows Keefe tagging teammate Danny Richardson, with each man stretched out above a perpendicular nameplate reading "Keefe, P., New Yorks." (Other versions place both of their names, Keefe and Richardson, along its adjacent border.)

The SGC VG-EX+ 4.5 grade is balanced in its features for a mid-grade card, with even, sepia-toned borders, slight rounding with bumps on two corners, and good image detail that shows off the distinctly striped New York jerseys. It ranks among the best-graded across combined SGC/PSA population reports, with just over ten known. A lovely card of a key player that will be tough to improve upon.
