Hall of Fame infielder Johnny Evers appears in a distinctive jersey that his Cubs wore for the 1907 World Series, where they overcame Hughie Jennings and the Detroit Tigers, 4 games to 0. Cards featuring these uniforms prove tough-as-nails to find today, given their limited time on-field and rampant reuse of a handful of Johnny's other poses for contemporary tobacco and candy sets.

Two hard-to-find sets share the checklist that includes this card: E94 George Close Candy of Cambridge, MA, and M131 Baltimore News of that Maryland city. The Newsboy series uses all blue backgrounds and its $1 giveaway for complete set collectors no doubt reduced cards in circulation today.

The SGC FAIR 1.5 grade reflects its rounded corners, creasing, and spots on the reverse. Its checklist back remains clear and readable, a key factor for M131 collectors and its overall appeal. The population report shows five total M131 Evers cards, with just one higher!
