Jack Bliss served as backup catcher for St. Louis during Roger Bresnahan's time as player-manager, providing reliable glovework during an era when backstops rarely needed to hit well or contribute elsewhere in the field. The majority of his surviving cards feature this follow-through pose and dour expression. He looks more positive and rugged in other photos from this era, so perhaps they caught Jack on a bad day.
This SGC GD 2 reflects offset print registration and rounded corners. Its front appears to feature an inverted portrait image of another player, left behind by an extra printing pass for this sheet or via wet ink transfer. While this artifact is distinct from its technical grade, it adds intrigue to an otherwise conventional T206 card.
