Whatever you think of Eddie Cicotte's role in the 1919 Black Sox scandal, this smiling pose remains a standout card from the Cracker Jack series. This casual expression and sharp, detailed Chcago uniform presages his career revival that used a knuckleball and other offspeed pitches to great advantage. His 1917 World Series title and many career achievements stand in sharp contrast to the infamy that followed a 1920 ban by Commissioner Landis.

This PSA FR 1.5 grade reflects toning and corner wear, thanks in large part to the thin paper Cracker Jack used for its popular 1914 and 1915 sets. Almost every mark on a surface shows through these cards, as with the spot on its lower-right corner. Foxing on the back could be from its original sticky snack! The classic red backdrop retains strong visual impact and Cicotte's clean and engaging central image makes this an appealing card for any set builder or Black Sox collector.
