In 1894 Sam Thompson joined Ed Delahanty and Billy Hamilton to become the only HOF outfield to have all three fielders hit above .400 in a single season. An offensive powerhouse the good-natured Thompson was known for his home runs as the greatest slugger of the 19th Century. The first left-handed hitter to hit 20 home runs in a season Thompson averaged nearly one RBI per game for the entirety of his 15-year career. This card graded GOOD 30 by SGC depicts "Big Sam" with the bat at ready stadium backdrop behind him. Overall soiling and wear to the surface corners and edges keep the card at collector grade however cards of Thompson are particularly desirable as the game's first real slugger author of 126 lifetime home runs. A very desirable card of a popular 19th Century Hall of Famer.
