This elegant handpainted portrait of Hall of Fame pitcher Satchel Paige proved to be his one Topps card, given the start of integrated play in 1947, when he was nearly 40. He would go on to pitch five seasons in the majors, making a pair of All-Star appearances for these St. Louis Browns at ages 45 and 46.
The SGC PR 1 grade reflects rounded corners and chipped edges, with some residue on the back that could be from its original wax pack seal. It remains an iconic card and one of the best examples at this condition.
