A baseball lifer, Clyde King spent many years in management, and obviously accumulated quite a few desk and door nameplates, with various titles. Presented here is a group of three such plates - one documenting his time as manager of the Atlanta Braves in 1974, another documenting his time as manager of the New York Yankees in 1982, and his time as General Manager of the New York Yankees from 1984 through 1986. It was in this capacity that King was forced by George Steinbrenner to fire Yankees fan favorite Yogi Berra as manager in 1985, despite Steinbrenner having given Berra a public vote of confidence for the season. As a result, Berra and Steinbrenner remained estranged for decades. King, however, was viewed as a loyal Yankees employee, and remained with the club in various capacities for several decades. Three nameplates total.
