Alphabetically speaking, Gus Albert represents the first subject in the N172 Old Judge issue, this example catalogued as #1-2.  This attractive 1888 example is a sharp one, with fine detail and only light wear evident, save for a very small spot of paper loss on Albert's knee. The plate specimen for the Old Judge "Bible," The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company, the image is significantly above average, particularly for an 1888 example.  Some glue staining and light pencil notations on the reverse also contribute to the grade and qualifier.
