Apparently, "Oyster" burns, shortstop for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms, received his nickname simply because he liked eating oysters. A surly player with a mean disposition, the shortstop played 11 seasons in the majors, batting an even .300 lifetime. In 1890 he led the league in both home runs and RBI, with 13 and 128, respectively. Despite the technical grade, this is an extremely strong example of his N172 card. The grade speaks to some staining on the reverse as well as a vertical crease across the center of the card; the image quality, centering, and overall cleanliness make the card quite desirable regardless.
