This crisp, candid 1959 Topps portrait shows Willie Mays between expressions, perhaps as a happy accident captured during a longer series of photos taken at the Giants new San Francisco home. (At least his 1959 Bazooka came from this same session.) He would post yet another excellent performance that season, even if his one league-leading category was "only" stolen bases (27).

The BVG NM-MT+ 7.5 grade reflects its straight, white borders and lightly touched corners on an otherwise strong image and back. (The inner sleeve BVG used as part as encapsulation appears to have a flaw near his ear and fold at upper right that are separate from the card itself.)
