Attractive and colorful early scorecard measuring approximately 4 1/4" x 7 1/4" folded, the design closely resembling the 1882 H804-11 Cosack & Company "Circled Position" trade cards. An advertisement for Old Judge Cigarettes is printed at the bottom of the first page, the home team clearly the New York Giants. Names printed on the interior scorecard page include Hall of Famers John Montgomery Ward, Roger Connor, their opponents being the Indianapolis Hoosiers. The scoring on the interior pages suggests the game in question was played on August 11 of 1887, an 11-1 win for the Giants.
Scorecards featuring Old Judge advertisements with this design element typically feature the Boston team. This is the only known example where the New York Giants are clearly the home team. Condition looks exceptional given its age and intended use, technically FAIR with some age-related staining and a bit of separation at the spine due to heavy use. Some light but visible wrinkling can be observed at the bottom-left corner, along with overall softness to the corners and edges. The reverse contains an 1887 Polo Grounds schedule, with three local business ads printed on the interior pages.
