This engaging moment in time shows southpaw Dick Kerr finishing a warmup throw along the third base line, perhaps about to enter one of the 53 victories we earned in just three years for Chicago. He won two of Chicago's three World Series victories in October 1919, apparently unaware of the Black Sox plot swirling around him that would give the series to Cincinnati. Its PSA VG 3 grade reflects corner rounding and some toning at lower right that detracts little from the main image. (The partial "H" came from its original photo and appears on all such Kerr cards.) The PSA population report shows just 15 total graded Kerr cards.
American Caramel is one of several Pennsylvania and Ohio food makers who added their brand names to baseball sets printed during the 1920s, including this stately set of 120 black-and-white framed photos. Analysis of players and teams on its checklist suggests companies released them in batches, perhaps team-by-team, followed by albums to encourage customers to store an entire set.
