Attractive debut issue of Sports Illustrated, which would eventually become the most important sports publication ever produced. Known for its brilliant color photography and insightful articles, SI has been the standard by which all sports publications have been judged. The first edition included a pull-out section containing 27 Topps baseball cards (though printed on light paper stock, as opposed to cardboard), including Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Eddie Mathews, Duke Snider, Richie Ashburn, Gil Hodges, Larry Doby and Ted Williams.  This example is in VG/EX condition with some edge wear and light wear at the spine, otherwise quite strong and entirely intact.
