Tough to locate in any condition, E105 Mello-Mint gum cards resemble several contemporary sets issued by tobacco companies with their bright colors and vertical layout. The Texas Gum Company used somewhat thinner stock, however, which could explain why so few of this 50-card set survived.
Larry Doyle appears twice on Mello-Mint cards and this throwing pose offers a strong image for what is nominally a lower grade. The SGC GD 2 reflects a notched lower left corner, an offset to its blue ink pass, and centering to the northwest. The current SGC population report shows fewer than ten total graded.
