Original 1962 game manufactured by Standard Toykraft of Brooklyn. The game was played by tossing styrofoam baseballs at a pronged game surface in an attempt to recreate game play. The game surface is encased in a cardboard box with the playing surface exposed, measuring approximately 20" x 20". The only components of the game were the baseballs and a small instruction sheet (the instruction sheet is not present here). Though the game itself is rare, it is the presence of the cover that is important to the value and collectibility, as it was constructed of flimsy plastic that was often simply torn off in order for youngsters to access the components inside. As a result, most surviving examples of this game are missing the plastic cover. In this case, the cover is present and entirely intact, though several tears and holes are evident, the seal at the top edge apparently repaired carefully with tape. A significant piece, one of the more rare and highly prized of the many Mantle and Maris memorabilia items of the early 1960s, the first time we have ever offered one at Love of the Game.
