Exceptional full ticket to Shea Stadium in queens for the July 6, 1962 game between the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals. The game, during the Mets' first professional season, featured a milestone home run by future Hall of Famer Gil Hodges, in which he hit the 370th and final home run of his career. Hodges, who hit the first home run in New York Mets history, was the National League's all time leader in home runs by a right-handed hitter until Willie Mays broke the record the following year. Hodges entered the 1963 season as an active player, but ended his playing career when the Washington Senators asked him to be their manager. The Mets cleared the way by trading him for Jimmy Piersall, an excellent gesture to one of the classiest and most beloved players in history. This full ticket has been graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, an outstanding example with very little wear beyond the lightly softened corners.
