Topps gave slugger Vic Wertz an odd, windup look by removing the bat from its lefthand action pose. He played part-time for Boston in 1959, so perhaps card editors had fewer photos to choose from. Vic's name remains forever linked to Willie Mays, thanks to his drive to deepest center of the Polo Grounds in 1954's World Series that Mays chased down in spectacuar fashion. This centered card was graded PSA NM-MT 8, reflecting two print dots on reverse, and the population report shows just two higher.
